In a major upset, real estate developer Chris West defeated political commentator Jeremy Hunt in the Republican runoff for Georgia's 2nd District congressional seat.
Hunt, who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump, was considered the favorite heading into the runoff. However, West was able to pull off the victory with a strong showing in rural counties.
With all precincts reporting, West had 52% of the vote to Hunt's 48%.
West will now face Democrat Carolyn Bourdeaux in the November general election. Bourdeaux is seeking a second term in the House.
